Turkey wakes up to a new earthquake … and the death toll from yesterday’s earthquake increases

The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department announced that a new earthquake struck the state of Izmir, in western Turkey, on Saturday morning, at 8.31 am Turkish time off the coast of “Safari Siege” in the Aegean Sea.

According to its data, the depth of the earthquake was 7.33 kilometers, adding that after the earthquake, the aforementioned region witnessed 341 aftershocks, 31 of them severely above 4 degrees.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the devastating Izmir earthquake that occurred yesterday evening rose to 24, and the number of injured rose to 804, not to mention the material damage that led to the collapse of entire buildings in the aforementioned region.

It is noteworthy that the earthquake in Izmir yesterday night, according to the Turkish official announcement, had a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale, and its epicenter was 17 km from the coast of the city of Safari Siege in the Aegean Sea and at a depth of 16.54 km below the surface of the earth.
