Interpol arrested the Greek member of the European Parliament, Yannis Lagos, one of the leaders of the far-right “Golden Dawn” party, whose parliamentary immunity was lifted by the European Parliament.
Regarding what Greek media said, Lagos was arrested in Brussels and will be held for 48 hours in a Belgian police station, after which he will be brought before a judge who decides whether or not Belgium will hand him over to Greece.
Lagos was convicted of leading a criminal group, and an arrest warrant was issued against him, and the European Parliament lifted his representative immunity on Monday.
Earlier media reports indicated that Lagos was planning Monday to travel from Brussels to Norway to seek political asylum.
Lagos became famous for his video clip from inside the European Parliament tearing up the Turkish flag last year
