Temporary European measures in Irish ports due to security concerns

The European Union Commission announced that EU employees will be temporarily withdrawn from their work in Northern Ireland ports due to security concerns.

A spokesman for the European Commission explained, “We asked them not to come to their jobs today, and we will continue to monitor the situation and adapt accordingly,” adding that the security of EU employees in Northern Ireland is a top priority.

Northern Ireland has temporarily suspended some inspections at two ports, after a local council withdrew employees over safety concerns, and police said they plan to increase patrols at entry points.
