Shocking toll of massacres in an African country

The death toll from two attacks that took place last night in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to at least 50, according to the “Kivu Security Tracker” group.
The group said that 28 people were killed in Buga, and 22 in Chappi, two villages located about ten kilometers from each other, in an area that has long witnessed attacks by the so-called “Allied Democratic Forces” and incidents of ethnic tension.
The group indicated that the outcome “is still preliminary.” The group had indicated in an earlier toll that 39 people were killed.
