Sanctions on personalities in Bulgaria

The US administration revealed that it has imposed sanctions on three individuals and 64 entities in Bulgaria under the “Global Magnitsky Law” to punish those involved in corruption, torture and human rights violations.
The statement issued by the United States on Wednesday said that its new sanctions include prominent Bulgarian businessman Vasyl Krumov Boykov, former member of parliament Dilian Slavichev Beyevsky, as well as Ilko Dmitrov Jeliazkov, former vice president of the Bulgarian National Agency for Technological Operations (SATO) concerned with the acquisition and use of private intelligence tools.
The ministry also stated that the reason for imposing the sanctions lies in their involvement in corruption, noting that the blacklisted companies are either affiliated with or associated with them.
