Pedersen calls on the Security Council to break deadlock in Syrian file

After an extraordinary closed session held by the Security Council via video technology on the Syrian file, the UN special envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen called on the members of the UN Security Council to unify the position to break the deadlock controlling the Syrian file.
In a statement to reporters, Pedersen said: “The current divisions of the international community must be overcome.”
He stressed the need to adopt constructive international diplomacy on Syria, considering that without that, the chances of real progress on the constitutional path remain few.
