As part of his endeavor to show his closeness to his citizens within a new mechanism for direct communication with members of the American people, US President Joe Biden contacted a woman who lost her job due to the Corona pandemic.
conversation took place by phone from the Oval Office with Michelle from Roseville, California, a mother who lost her job at a startup due to the economic repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic, and she sent a letter to Biden telling him about her suffering and that she is looking for work.
In a video of the conversation posted online by the White House, the president said, “My father used to tell me that work is much more than a salary. It is your dignity, your respect and your standing in society.”
“We are very happy that you are focusing on this matter,” said Michel, whose surname was not disclosed, adding that her parents had just registered to receive the vaccine against Covid-19.
It is noteworthy that the US presidential spokeswoman, Jane Psaki, previously said that the White House will launch a new mechanism “that will enable the president to regularly communicate directly with the American people.”
