Lebanon interacts with the issue of drug smuggling to Saudi Arabia

The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the caretaker interior minister, Mohamed Fahmy, briefed the President, Michel Aoun, during a phone call, on the results of the investigations into the case of drug smuggling to Saudi Arabia through the pomegranate fruit.
The agency said, “The Lebanese President was informed of the results of the ongoing investigations, the course of the measures taken in the expanded meeting held yesterday at Baabda Palace, and the information available to the security services.”
According to the agency, the Lebanese Interior Minister condemned, in a phone call with the Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan, the smuggling operation, and affirmed Lebanon’s keenness on the security and safety of the Kingdom.
Saudi Arabia announced that it would stop importing vegetables and fruits from Lebanon after thwarting the smuggling of large quantities of drugs hidden in pomegranate fruits coming from Lebanon to Saudi Arabia.
