Earthquake near archipelago of New Caledonia in Pacific Ocean

European Mediterranean Seismological Center announced that an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale was detected near the archipelago of New Caledonia in France in the southwestern part of the Pacific Ocean.

According to the center, the epicenter of the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km and at a distance of 530 km east of the city of Nouméa, the administrative center of New Caledonia, which is considered an “overseas territory” of France, which has a population of about 93 thousand people.
