Bennett calls for speedy government vote

The head of the Israeli “Yamena” party, Naftali Bennett, called on the Speaker of the Knesset, Yariv Levin, to expedite the vote of confidence in the new government this week.
Bennett’s request came in response to current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempts to split the coalition and prevent the formation of a government headed by Yair Lapid.
Bennett called next Wednesday to be a date for a vote of confidence, in order to confirm the overthrow of Netanyahu.
Bennett addressed the Knesset Speaker, saying, “We know that Netanyahu is pressuring you to find more dissidents, you know that this is not in the interest of the state, but in the interest of Netanyahu. People expect you to do this. I swear allegiance to a state and not to a specific person.”
