Arab party partner in Israel

The head of the United Arab List, Mansour Abbas, signed an agreement with the head of the Yesh Atid party, Yair Lapid, to participate in the government coalition, to be the first Arab party to participate in a government coalition in 50 years.
After signing the agreement, Abbas said that “the two parties reached understandings and an agreement that provides solutions to the Arab community,” noting that “the agreement includes many important and necessary matters for the Arab community in particular and for the Israelis in general, and in particular the Arab community in the Negev region, with regard to home demolitions.”
He pointed out that “this is the first time for an Arab party to have a partner in establishing a government,” expressing his hope that “it will be established because we do not want a fifth election, and therefore I made this difficult decision. We will work with determination to make this process a success.”
The two main partners in the new coalition, Lapid and Naftali Bennett, are scheduled to rotate in the premiership, 12 years after Netanyahu led the Israeli government.
