A race between vaccines and the virus in India

Vaccine shortages in India have hampered the Indian government’s plan to vaccinate all adults in the country.
The British newspaper “The Guardian” said that more than 600 million Indian adults are eligible to receive the vaccine as part of the Indian government’s plan to counter the rapid spread of the Indian strain of virus.
She added, “But as many experts expected, the lack of vaccines has proven to be a major obstacle to achieving that goal.”
Out of the 36 states and federal territories in India, only 12 states have enough vaccines to start vaccinating those over 18 in small quantities.
